Sabrina Ghayour

Sabrina Ghayour

Sabrina Ghayour was given her very first cook book at the tender age of 6 when a passion was ignited that just grows bigger. Inspired by the first TV Chefs of her generation, Madhur Jaffrey and Ken Hom, she spent years learning as much as she could about food from around the world. And of course Sabrina's Persian heritage means that food is very much part of her cultural background. Sabrina has worked in some of London's finest 5 star hotels, Michelin starred restaurants and top Catering companies and also run her own events and catering business.

As Mussels are best at this time, I wanted to bring you a lovely dish from Spain that has all the warmth and vibrancy of summer with bags of flavour and an abundance of seafood which always reminds me on being on holiday.  As the weather gets colder and greyer, this is just the type of dish that gives me the much-needed ‘sunshine’ to get me through the week.

  • Delia Smith - Delia's Happy Christmas

    Monday October 19th, 2009

The truth is Delia is old-school, bordering on a tad fuddy-duddy, so if it’s innovative culinary inspiration that you are after, then there is not much here for you.  But, if along with the rest of the nation, you are yearning to go ‘back to basics’ and embrace tradition, old favourites and timeless classics, then this is most definitely a book for you and the whole family.

  • Spiced Lamb Koftas

    Monday September 28th, 2009

So many countries around the world have their own version of these meaty patties and it just goes to show you how versatile they can be.  I love every single version of them, but here is my own version that borrows its earthy spices from the middle east, but takes its heat from the fiery chillies that the Indians use to flavour their version.  I like to serve mine with aromatic Basmati rice, which makes the perfect accompaniment.

  • Tamarind

    Monday September 21st, 2009

Tucked away in the money-laden back streets of Mayfair, Tamarind restaurant is by no means the new kid on the block.  Established over 15 years ago, despite losing their Michelin star earlier this year, they still remain the original culinary big-hitter of Anglo-Indian cuisine.

  • Keith Floyd, the last supper

    Tuesday September 15th, 2009

Keith Floyd suffered a heart attack and passed away last night, aged 65.  Some may say his penchant for excessive drinking may have cause his death, but he fought a long battle with bowel cancer which inevitably contributed to his weakened state.  Much irony lying in the fact that his death coincided with the airing of a one hour documentary on Channel 4 last night named “Keith on Keith” – interview conducted by Keith Allen.
