If you’ve ever been to Bavaria, chances are that you visited Oktoberfest. First celebrated in 1810 on the occasion of a royal wedding, this famous festival has since become a regular event, attracting millions of visitors every year.

If you can’t make it to Oktoberfest in Munich this year, you need look no further than the Bavarian Beerhouse, which has been organising Oktoberfest in London since 2004. This year, Oktoberfest in London will take place from 16 September to 6 November 2010 – even longer than the festival in Munich. Dirndl clad waitresses will be serving massive pork shanks and German beers in huge Stein glasses. Live oompah bands, flown in specially from Bavaria, will be playing every night from Tuesday to Saturday, from 7pm onwards.

One lucky Foodepedia reader can win a table for ten for Oktoberfest in London on the evening of Tuesday, 21st September 2010, at the Bavarian Beerhouse’s Old Street venue, which is situated at 190 City Road, London EC1V 2QH. The prize is for entry to the event on that day and a free Stein of German beer (the equivalent of two pints) for each guest.
