“Golden Tickets” for Lucky Guests at Imli
- Tuesday April 7, 2009 12:57 pm
There’s a free meal up for grabs every lunch or dinner this month at Imli, the modern Indian ‘tapas’ restaurant for the lucky guests who find a lucky ‘Golden Ticket’ hidden somewhere on their table. The exciting offer is open to everybody who books a table for between one and four people at the restaurant. The winner’s name will be taken chosen at random each night. Winning the Imli Golden Ticket will ease the pain of the credit crunch at least for one night for an entire table of very satisfied diners. The winnings include not only a sumptuous spread chosen from Imli’s contemporary Indian menu but also drinks on the house all night.
Rajesh Suri, CEO of the Tamarind Group that owns Imli, says: “Winning a golden ticket is a childhood dream for many of us – at least those of us who’ve read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We can’t promise them a trip to the chocolate factory – although we do have some delicious desserts on the menu! – but we can promise them a delicious Indian meal and free drinks for the whole table.”
Imli’s much heralded arrival on the London restaurant scene in January 2006 was the result of years of market research and concept development by the owners of Mayfair-based Tamarind – the first Indian restaurant in Europe to gain Michelin recognition.
Imli’’s ethos is traditional meets modern. Under the guidance of Tamarind-trained executive chef Samir Sadekar, it offers authentic regional dishes from all over India with an innovative, delicately modern twist unlike the heavy ghee-based cooking with which most British diners are familiar. Samir has arranged the menu into sections and developed the categories as: Light and Refreshing, Fish and Seafood Tapas and Chicken and Lamb tapas.
The light and refreshing dishes include: Papdi Chaat (£3.65) - Whole Wheat Crisps and Bean Sprouts with Vermicelli, Sweet Yoghurt and Mint Chutney and Dahi Pakodi (£3.95) – Lentil Dumplings stuffed with Crushed Coriander and Raisins toped Yoghurt and Tamarind Chutney. Dishes from the Fish and Seafood section of the menu include: Grilled Fish (£7.95) – Cumin and Mint-marinated Tilapia Fish with Seasonal Vegetables in a Coriander Pine Nut Sauce and Seafood Stew (£8.95) – Mussels, Squid, Prawn and Fish cooked in a Spicy Coconut sauce. Imli’s Signature dishes include: Chicken Hariyali (£5.65) – Chicken cooked in a smooth blend of Coriander and Green Chilli Sauce served with Paratha or Rice and Kheema Matar (£5.50) – Slow cooked Spicy Lamb and Green Peas. A wide range of fine and sparkling wines is also available – as well as freshly blended juices, refreshing cocktails, Indian beers and lassis made with exotic Indian fruits.
Imli also offers “Imli to Go,” a take-away service (available in the London W1 area) so its delicious food can be enjoyed at the office or at home. There is a 10% discount on all take-aways picked up from Imli. Delivery hours are 12 noon - 11pm, seven days a week within the Soho area. Minimum order for free delivery is £20.00 or a £3.00 delivery charge applies within Soho.
Imli is open for all day dining from Monday - Sunday 12.00 - 11.00pm.
