Zilli Green to open in February
- Friday January 29, 2010 7:48 am
Food lovers rejoice, on February 14th, Aldo Zilli will open his new vegetarian restaurant, in Soho, an area that is of course a byword for healthy living. Ever since he went on Celebrity Fit Club (next watch out for Celebrity Mingers Club) Aldo's been on a bit of a health kick and has even written a rather good book to help us all get a bit lighter.
Certainly the builders have been getting fit, staggering out of the rather good Dean Street Town House, you notice the street is littered with the remains of Zilli's old furniture. Naturally the new interior will feature soothing eco colours and eco friendly woods.
The Head Chef will be Enzo di Marinocooking vegetarian dishes from around the world using, of course, vegetables from local producers.
Of course there's lttle worse than someone who has recently given up something - cigarettes, meat, drink, dogging etc - lecturing everyone else on their bad habits. But as it's Aldo, who is no hair-shirt environmentalist, we look forward to eating our greens.
Starter dishes (from £3.50) include Beetroot Lasagna with Dandelion & Rocket Salad; Jerusalem Artichoke Tart with Goats Cheese, Fig & Grape Chutney; and Red Lentil & Barley Soup.
Pasta dishes (£6.00) include Pumpkin ravioli with Butter, Sage and Nutmeg Sauce; Artichoke and Smoked Mozzarella Risotto with Toasted Sunflower Seeds; and Black truffle lasagne. Other mains include, Lentil Cake with Steamed Baby Vegetables, Fried Fennel and Beetroot Oil; Marinated Seared Tofu with Asian Salad and Miso Soup; Thai Curry with Quinoa & Blood Orange Chutney; an d Purple Sprouting Broccoli & Oyster Mushroom Tempura as well as a Daily Roast.
