Les Deux Baguettes will be cooking classical French dishes with bastardised Asian influences for Summer Sessions at The Laughing Heart this Friday 10 August.
A weekend long programme, Summer Sessions sees exciting chefs from the London food scene partner with Head Chef Tom Anglesea to shake things up a bit for all the fun-loving night-owl foodies in East London.
The chef chosen to headline on the Friday night is Patrick Powell. Previously of Chiltern Firehouse and soon to be at Manhattan Loft Gardens, Patrick is well versed in producing elegant, exquisite food that dazzles, but his heart laughs most when he is cooking naughty versions of French classics with bastardised Asian influences.
So that’s why he and Tom will be serving up dishes such as Okonomiyah Gougeres, Moules Frites - Blackbean and Ile Flottante - Szechuan custard.
The menu at The Laughing Heart has always been about small plates Also, because the restaurant was designed as a late night hang out for those in the industry, the food is perfect for quality boozing as well as the soaking up of said quality booze.
On the drinks menu this Friday night are lots of natural wines, expertly chosen by affable Aussie manager, Charlie Mellor, ex manager of nearby Brawn and Elliott's in Borough Market.
Charlie likes to promise he has a wine for everyone, so fans of interesting small producers will love the selection.
They may love it so much they buy a bottle from the wine shop downstairs, but with the food this naughty on Friday night guests will no doubt find themselves indulging in all the dishes on the menu.
