New Head Chef, New Menu and New Look at Adam Byatt’s Bistro Union

Adam Byatt’s Bistro Union - the Bib Gourmand-awarded British neighbourhood bistro on Abbeville Road in the heart of Clapham - has s a new head chef, a brand new menu and a refreshed interior for the new season.

mcith_Plaice-parfait-tableshot-3.jpgTying Bistro Union closer to Adam Byatt’s other sites Trinity and Upstairs, head chef Josh Hooper, previously sous chef at Trinity, has created a new menu alongside Adam, one with a host of comforting, seasonal dishes.

Using the best British produce available - mussels from Cornwall, corn on the cob from Norfolk, Moxon’s smoked salmon from round the corner - the new lunch and dinner menu is divided into smaller plates and snacks, larger plates and sharing mains, alongside the ever-popular sides, desserts and cheeses.

Smaller plates and snacks range from cauliflower cheese croquettes and fine de claire oysters to the charcuterie plate from the in-house cured selection, hanging in full display before diners and sliced fresh to-order.

Larger dishes offer seasonal flavours: roast pigeon with chanterelles and sage; white park beef and ale pie. Desserts are classic and indulgent, including the now-signature Brown Butter Custard Tart, a twist on Trinity’s famous salted caramel custard tart; and crème caramel with Sauternes raisins.

Enjoy smaller dishes alongside a pick from the newly-expanded list of discovery and noteworthy bottles at the high tables or ordering lots of dishes to share at your leisure in a group at one of the larger tables.

There’s also a new “Sunday Supper Feast” available to book, which runs from 6-8pm every Sunday with free BYO and a 2-course set feasting menu for £20. The menu changes each week but expect dishes like, Red Wine Braised Daube of Beef with Creamed Potatoes and Lemon Meringue Pie.

The wine list ties together New and Old World, all hand-selected and matched to the menu by the Bistro Union team

There’s also a new cocktail club which runs from Tuesday-Thursday (6-8pm) where guests can pick up one of a creation for just £5.
