Hoppers Arrack Masterclasses

Hoppers, the restaurant inspired by the home cooking and roadside stalls of Sri Lanka and southern India, has teamed up with Ceylon Arrack, a Sri Lankan family-run distillery, to host a series of monthly arrack dinners and masterclasses.
Hosted at Hoppers’ second restaurant, at St Christopher’s Place, Marylebone, guests will be introduced to Sri Lanka’s beloved signature spirit, arrack.
Guests will learn about the coconut spirit’s rich history and traditional distilling process. Perfected over four generations, from the skill required to extract sap from the coconut flower by the nimble toddy tappers who climb barefoot to the treetops to the careful distillation process that results in perfectly-balanced arrack.
Throughout the evening, Sri Lankan short-eats will be served, including: mutton rolls, black pork paan, shellfish kothu, goat buriani and love cake, each expertly paired with an arrack cocktail. An alternative vegetarian menu will also be available.
Guests will have the chance to infuse their very own Ceylon Arrack cocktails, using an array of their chosen spices and herbs. As a spirit reminiscent of good times, at the end of the night, each guest will be gifted a goody bag, including a distinctive miniature bottle of the spirit to take home as a memento.
Karan Gokani, Directors of Hoppers, says, ‘We’re thrilled to be hosting these arrack masterclasses throughout the summer months. We’ve had a very close relationship with Amal and his team at Ceylon Arrack for years now and are thrilled to welcome them to Hoppers. Being a staple in Sri Lankan culture, we’re looking forward to teaching our guests about the history of arrack alongside some of our signature dishes.’
Hoppers’ next arrack masterclasses will take place on 12th June, 17th July and 14th August.
Tickets are priced at £60pp and can be purchased at hopperslondon.com. Tickets include four arrack cocktails, dinner featuring Hoppers’ signature dishes, and a miniature bottle of Ceylon Arrack to take home.
