Launched in Mayfair Bindas Eatery - meaning free spirit and without inhibitions in Punjabi - is now serving Indian street food inspired by the dishes sold at foodie hubs throughout India.
There are small plates such as Sweet Potato Bhel Puri or Haddock Pakoras, to larger traditional Punjabi mains of Chicken Makhani or Rajma. The Chaat Thali (Chaat ka Chaska) is served on a traditional round hammered platter, and made up of Watermelon Chaat, Samosa Chaat, Gol Guppas and Sweet Potato Bhel Puri.
Bindas Eatery’s ‘Buns and Paos’ sees a refreshing take on paos. The restaurant’s Butter Chicken Bomb Burger is an Anglo-Indian hybrid made with a marinated and spiced chicken thigh, melted emmental cheese in a secret makhani sauce.
Unusually there’s an Indian-Indo-Chinese dish of chicken or chilli paneer, served with a side of veg hakka noodles.
The restaurant’s menu caters for meat, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free customers.
The menu offers Indian sodas like Limca and spiced coke Thums Up, or Bindas Eatery’s Tutti Frutti Lassi, made with a mix of berries, rose water and yoghurt.
There’s a selection of Indian beers as well as Indian-inspired cocktails such as the Mango and Chilli Mojito, or Rose and Elderflower Gin & Tonic.
Bindas Eatery is the debut from founder Mehak Kansal. Mehak was awarded the 2018 Westfield Food Entrepreneur Award which saw her scoop the prize of mentorship from renowned Spanish chef Omar Allibhoy of Tapas Revolution.
Bindas Eatery is open now at 5 Princes Street, Mayfair, W1B 2LQ, weekdays and weekends 12pm - 10pm, or order for delivery on Just Eat.
