Looking for an edible Easter? Well there is more to eat than eggs so here are some ideas to inspire you over the long weekend.
The meat, sourced from Hungry Donkey’s existing suppliers will include Cotswold white chicken, Blythburgh pork and west country lamb from award-winning butchers Aubrey Allen. In keeping with the Hungry Donkey ethos, all the meat comes from free-range animals.
Other new additions to the menu include Spetzofai (traditional Greek sausage stewed in a tomato sauce with red peppers, smoked paprika and Boukovo chilli), Gigantes (white runner beans baked in a tomato sauce with celery & carrots), Artichoke Fricassee and Portokalopita (orange ripple cake). There are also new options for customers with intolerances including a delicious gluten-free Moussaka and a dairy-free Rizogalo (rice pudding).

Le Pain Quotidien’s organic Hot Cross Buns are oven-fresh and available from the stores on-site bakery for £1.45 each or £5 for 4 – a sweet and spiced Easter favourite, given an updated LPQ twist!
Available from the pantry are goods including Organic Chocolate Easter Bunnies made with rice milk, a delicious alternative to milk (vegan friendly, lactose-free), £3.99; Organic Belgian Milk Chocolate Duckling, £2.99; a Nostalgic Papier Mâché Hand-crafted Egg filled with six organic praliné eggs, £4.99; and a Chicken Coop, filled with eight organic praliné eggs, £4.99.

Chris and Jeff Galvin are acknowledged masters of French cuisine, head chef Joo Won brings his spectacular Korean influences and special guest Sabrina Ghayour, author of Persiana, adds the unique flavour of the Near East. Guests can order each dish individually or, to experience a world on just one plate, all three as an unforgettable assiette of lamb. In honour of Sabrina there will also be a unique Persian-influenced cocktail created by Galvin at Windows’ own master mixologist Boris Ivan, designed to perfectly compliment the dish based on Tanqueray gin with Roots Tentura liqueur, rose syrup lemon and pomegranate.

New to the menu at Ichiryu are Matcha udon noodles and wholemeal udon noodles. With less than 200 calories in a serving, udon is fast becoming a healthier alternative to the already well loved ramen, and Ichiryu are certainly leading the charge with their new addition of matcha, which is stone ground on site! This Easter weekend, The Blues Kitchen have your brunching needs covered.
Other highlights from the already popular brunch menu include: Huevos Rancheros, fried eggs served on fried corn tortillas, topped with chorizo, beans, cheese and salsa, and served with guacamole (£7.50); and a short, or tall stack of fluffy, bacon-laden and maple-drowned Buttermilk Pancakes(£5.90/£6.90). Because everything’s better with a side of pancakes. Especially a bank holiday hangover.
Brunch will be served from Good Friday until Easter Monday across all Blues Kitchen venues: 10am-4pm (Camden and Brixton), and 11am-4pm (Shoreditch).
Brunch the Long Weekend Away at Village London
Don’t fancy coming into central London on the long weekend? Best to seek out brunch at Bermondsey’s Village East – an all-day restaurant with a decidedly neighbourhood vibe. Their weekend brunch menu, which includes the Campfire Breakfast with slow-roasted pork shoulder, barbeque baked beans & fried eggs (£9) or Malted Waffles with caramelised banana & vanilla ice cream (£7), will also be available on Monday 28 March.
Too add extra enticement, those visiting on Sunday or Monday at The Riding House Café (12pm – 3.30pm) or Village East (10am – 3.30pm) will receive a complimentary village fountain cocktail, with the option to upgrade to a bottomless brunch for just £15. Here’s to a four day weekend!
