Chloe goes all Mexican in the kitchen with the latest salsas from Gran Luchito.
Building on their range of smoked chilli ketchups, honeys and mayos, Gran Luchito has developped a range of four-strong Mexican Salsas that are perfect for dipping, marinating or cooking. Each is handmade in Mexico with fresh ingredients and no added sugar. I, of course, used this as an excuse to cook up a Mexican feast.
I started by making a fajita-inspired dish with the hot habanero mango salsa which is made with Mexican mangoes blended with spicy hot habanero chillies and fire roasted tomatillos (which is, apparently, a bit of a hybrid tomato).
I mixed this with fajita spices and left to marinate some chicken and red onion for about half an hour, before cooking in a frying pan with peppers and spinach and wrapping burrito-style with avocado and salad. Overall it packed quite a punch and added a fresh flavour to the dish. For a salsa that is marked hot it could have been a bit spicier but maybe next time I’ll just add more.
On the side I used the Zesty Tomatillo as a cooling alternative as a simple dip for tortilla chips. This zingy and tangy sauce is made with fire roasted tomatillos before being mixed with zesty lime and coriander.
The red pepper salsa, made with fire roasted red peppers and sun-ripened tomatoes is also great for pepping up your meals, and is a delicious addition to burritos, enchiladas, drizzled over sweet potato fries, or stirred through a chilli con carne.
The new Gran Luchito salsas are a refreshing addition to the food aisle and really do make you feel like you are adding delicious, authentic and healthy ingredients to your dishes. I can’t wait to experiment more with them.
