You can get a hint of Magic Mike Live at the Boozy Tea Room cocktail lounge in The Hippodrome, with Channing Tatum’s very own brand of vodka, Born and Bred, among the cocktails on offer.
Disappointingly, we were not served our cocktails by a hunk wearing little more than a smile, but the drinks soon made up for this: a good selection of seven tea-infused tipples, such as Born and Bred in an English Garden, Channing Tatum’s vodka scented with jasmine blossom, elderflowers and fresh strawberry.
There was Alabama Sunset (so good my guest had two) made with Chinese Pu’Er Tea, tequila, rose petals and hibiscus flowers and my favourite – G & Tea, a heady blend of Half Hitch Earl Grey gin served long with an elegant sparkling tea, chilled and sweetened by plum English plums with a hint of exotic spice.
You could almost imagine you were in Claridges or the Savoy when the silver cake stand arrived: as well as yummy little cucumber sandwiches (crusts off, of course) highlights were Born & Bred Mini Roast Beef Bagels with vodka sauce, and Unicorn Pops – white chocolate lollipops filled with mascarpone and covered in sprinkles.
It’s an interesting riff on afternoon tea, or indeed, a cocktail offering, and ideally located for visitors and shoppers at a reasonable price for this neck of the woods:
The Boozy Tea Room menu is priced at £32 for two people, or £54 including two cocktails; available Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm.
