The flavours of Spain in the heart of London – it’s opening on 2 January 2026, but Lírica invited us in early to its base in the Cumberland Hotel at Marble Arch.

The 75-seat restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and is not typically Spanish with its, warm tones, soft lighting, curved bars, plush seating, and fancy artwork. It’s a bit more sophisticated than your average tapas place. As you might expect from a hotel, it’s relaxed and invites guests to unwind, share plates, and linger over drinks.

The menu has plenty of crowd-pleasing classics and seasonal favourites, from Iberico ham croquetas and classic Spanish tortillas to gambas, gazpacho, padrón peppers, chipirones, patatas bravas, and pan con tomate. Lighter plates of sun-ripened heritage tomatoes and vegetables sit alongside richer dishes, perfect for mixing and matching around the table. Save room for dessert too, with Basque cheesecake and freshly made churros rounding things off on a sweet note. All the dishes we tried were perfectly sized and very tasty

We may have had too many of the signature cocktails – sangria, vanilla margaritas, and the Jose Collins (particularly good, that one) alongside an exclusively Spanish wine list and a small, curated selection of beers and spirits. I am not entirely sure how I got home

Lírica’s name — which means “lyrical poetry” — they say reflects its soulful approach to dining. It’s all about bringing people together to enjoy great flavours in a convivial, relaxed setting.

The Cumberland Hotel at Marble Arch, has always been a bit different and Lírica adds to the hotel’s culinary offering and its long connection to music and culture. The Cumberland has seen guests such as Bob Dylan, Diana Ross, Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Holly, and more recently Sister Sledge, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber,

It’ll certainly be a good spot for a casual date night, or somewhere simple to eat before heading into the West End.
