Omega Pressery — now available nationwide in Waitrose — turns rescued “wonky” avocados and macadamias into cold-pressed, nutrient-rich oils with serious ethical credentials.

Founded by Kenyan-Indian husband-and-wife duo Nikita Dawda and Niheer Shah, the range pairs high-performance cooking with full supply-chain transparency.
At the heart of the range are two hero products: a 3-Star Great Taste Award-winning Extra Virgin Avocado Oil (250ml, £8.00) and an Extra Virgin Macadamia Oil (250ml, £8.50). The avocado oil is currently the only avocado oil in the UK to have achieved the coveted three-star accolade from the Great Taste Awards.
Both oils are cold-pressed at peak ripeness to preserve antioxidants such as polyphenols and tocopherols, offering a clean, single-ingredient alternative to highly processed seed oils.
Extra Virgin Avocado Oil has a smoke point above 240°C — higher than most olive and seed oils — making it ideal for frying, roasting and everyday family cooking. Silky and buttery with delicate grassy notes, it’s equally at home in salad dressings or drizzled over finished dishes.
Naturally rich in monounsaturated fats and omega-3s, and low in pro-inflammatory omega-6s, it supports heart and metabolic health while remaining 100% pure and additive-free.
We tried it with scallops, the high smoke point perfect for getting the all-important caramelisation in the few seconds allowed before the scallops become overcooked. The flavour was also an additional benefit
Extra Virgin Macadamia Oil has a smooth, subtly nutty profile that shines in sautéing, baking, pastry and finishing. Comprising around 80% monounsaturated fats, it is naturally rich in antioxidants including polyphenols, phytosterols and tocopherols. Its balanced fat profile also makes it particularly popular among those following keto or lower-carb diets.
Omega Pressery’s impact extends well beyond the kitchen. The oils are made from imperfect avocados and macadamias that would otherwise go to waste — nearly 10,000 tonnes rescued in the past year alone. The fruit and nuts are grown in the volcanic soils surrounding Mount Kenya and are pressed within a week of harvest at a facility approximately 100km north of Nairobi, preserving freshness and nutrient density before being bottled in the UK.
The company works directly with more than 3,000 smallholder farmers across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda — 65–70% of whom are women — paying 20–30% above market rates and eliminating middlemen. Farmers receive free seedlings each season and training in regenerative agriculture, while the business also invests in community initiatives such as well-building and school improvements.
Sustainability is embedded throughout the supply chain: rain-fed irrigation reduces water use, no monoculture plantations are used, natural fertilisers replace synthetic chemicals, and production operates with zero waste. The oils are bottled in 100% recycled materials, and the brand maintains full “branch-to-bottle” traceability from farm to press date.
In addition to nationwide availability in Waitrose, Omega Pressery oils are stocked by Fortnum & Mason, Planet Organic, Amazon, Grape Tree, Source Bulk Foods and more than 250 independent retailers, farm shops and butcher chains across the UK.
