It’s high time we settle into roast season. We’ve rounded up a few of the best offerings with a twist, from a Caribbean roast to one with bottomless sides.

Sunday lunch with a deliciously smoky twist. Ekstedt at The Yard is a very fair cop. Michelin-starred Niklas Ekstedt uses fermentation, ancient fire-cooking in an open kitchen. There are no gas or electric ovens or hobs, there is instead a large wood fired oven and a wood fired cooking ‘pit’. This is his only restaurant outside his native Stockholm.
Caribbean ‘Island’ Roast at Guanabana, Kentish Town

The Caribbean smokehouse in North London known for its oak-smoked jerk chicken, offers the perfect twist on the classic roast for this Autumn and Winter. Guests can choose from the signature Island Roast, featuring oak-smoked jerk chicken or beef, seabass or portobello mushroom, accompanied by sweet plantain, crispy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and Guanabana’s signature spicy jerk gravy, with baby carrots, Yorkshire pudding and grilled cabbage among the trimmings.
All meat served is 100% halal. Each roast is priced from around £22 up to £40, and is served every Saturday and Sunday.

Indian roast at KOKUM, East Dulwich

KOKUM, the Indian restaurant in East Dulwich run by ex-head chef at Gymkhana, offers the perfect twist on the classic roast for this Autumn and Winter. Guests can choose from four expertly crafted roasts all with an add touch of spice including the Roast Chicken with Makhani gravy, Roast Shank of Lamb with Nihari gravy, Roast Kingfish Steak, or the Tandoori Veg Roast. All of which were served with spiced potatoes, carrots, greens, and naan included. Each roast, including all trimmings, is priced between £24 and £32, and are available all day every Sunday.

Bottomless sides at PIVOT Bar & Bistro, Covent Garden

Pop to Covent Garden’s hidden gem PIVOT Bar and Bistro for a standout roast offering found nowhere else in London.
Take in the gorgeous views of the piazza before digging into Pivot’s decadent Sharing Roast – serving four people for just £99. This impressive platter is served sharing-style, with three succulent meats: half roast chicken, beef strip-loin and lamb shank. Guests can enjoy unlimited accompaniments of potatoes, hispi cabbage, creamy cauliflower cheese, glazed carrots, gravy and Yorkshire puddings.
The Sharing Roast can be enjoyed alongside Pivot’s selection of wines, beers and soft drinks, and a delicious dessert menu is also available for those who like to finish on something sweet.

Pearly Cow is an independent collection of grill restaurants in York, Margate and Brighton created by three brothers, Tristan, James and Tom Guest.

The brand now offers Sunday roasts across the three sites, promising an indulgent meal for a special occasion, weekend trip, or local visit. The Pig and Butcher occupies a handsome pub built in the mid 1800’s and takes inspiration from farmhouse tables across Europe. With an in-house team hand-picking and delivering produce, and a butchers built downstairs, quality and care is paramount. The Pig and Butcher also boasts a regularly-updated wine menu sourced from some of the best family-owned vineyards and larger winemakers from across the world.
Every Sunday until 9pm the restaurant offers diners one of the city’s best roasts.
