From the award-winning food brand Miso Tasty, comes a range of versatile cooking sauces.

mcith_miso.JPGWe’re big fans of Miso here. I have even been caught eating the paste direct out of the tub.The flavour is somewhat indescribable – savoury and yet sweet. Umami they call it.

Present also in Marmite.Using Miso in cooking is a bit of an art – there are various types and grades – but if you use the Misotasty cookbook by Bonnie Chung you will discover, as we did, a treasure chest of useful recipes.

Bonnie has turned her passion for Miso into a business, MisoTasty, and these sauces are a new part of it

You can use them as a glaze, sauce, marinade or dressing and get the full Japanese flavour with minimum effort, just a simple squeeze.

The packaging helps keep them fresh and ready for action even after being opened. Each squeezy tube contains 100g of sauce which provides 5-6 servings and is fully recyclable.

The range includes Sweet & Sticky Teriyaki; Sweet & Savoury Miso; and Zesty Miso Yuzu.

You can create Japan’s most iconic dishes including Nasu Dengaku, Miso Cod, Yuzu Salmon and Chicken Teriyaki.

Sweet & Savoury Miso

Spread onto roasted aubergines and then grilled it’s delicious and even better basted onto cod. You can also mix with a little olive oil and enjoy as a salad dressing.

Try with Sunday roast chicken, it really adds a special dimension. We slathered a load onto salmon fillet, it’s a nice thick sauce that clings well, and whacked it into a red hot oven.

The result was very pleasing, where the Miso had burned a bit was particularly nice. It really did come close to a proper Japanese restaurant dish.

Sweet & Sticky Teriyaki

Total classic. Use as a marinade on chicken or fish before roasting or grilling.  Drizzle onto stir-fries toward the end for a flavour boost.

Use it for almost anything you’re BBQing  used in a multitude of ways: a tasty marinade for meat, fish and vegetables for grilling on the BBQ.

This one we put into a stir fry where it did indeed improve things, and all over some chicken thighs BBQd over indirect heat. The sauce slithered off a bit, next time a few slashes in the meat would be a good idea, but again plenty of easy flavour was provided

Rich & Tangy Yuzu

This is supposed to have that lovely Japanese citrus twist making it aerfect marinade for salmon or trout, then grill. A tangy dressing for BBQ prawns or to create a citrusy salad dressing in minutes.

We didn’t actually get a sample of this, but it certainly talks a good gameMiso Tasty pride themselves on sourcing the best ingredients for their products and this new range is no exception.

The squeezy tube contains 100g of sauce which provides 5-6 servings and is fully recyclable. The sauces are gluten free and vegan.

The Miso Tasty brand also has a range of miso soups, cooking pastes, katsu and noodle kits, plus now home cooking sauces all stocked in major retailers including Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Whole Foods.
