No one needs an excuse to turn to the humble sausage for a meal… whether for a slap up winter supper, a quick weekend hot dog or a well-deserved breakfast sandwich. Now the team at debbie&andrew’s has just made the decision to fire up the BBQ or turn on the grill a whole lot easier.

Already renowned for their extensive range of wheat and gluten free sausages, the new debbie&andrew’s buttered onion and Mustard sausage is a real treat for the taste buds. Clearly it’s a trusted blend that works; succulent pork accompanied by beautifully buttered sautéed onions and a dash of wholegrain mustard.

Yes I hear you shout, that’s a perfect combination. But, there is an added flavor to these sausages that, in all honesty, I had to turn to the packet to identify. The answer was that the recipe includes a hint of sweet blossom honey and I can certainly testify that it makes a big difference to the overall taste. In addition, the honey adds a slight, but detectable, stickiness to the overall sausage meat, making them all the more enjoyable.

If you fancy a little bit of adventurous cooking try this simple and hearty winter “skillet sausages” dish.

Cook debbie&andrew’s buttered onion and mustard sausages in a heavy skillet pan until they are cooked through (this will take about 20 minutes). Remove the sausages from the pan and add some pre-cooked potatoes, butternut squash, quartered shallots and some red peppers.

Let them pick up the cooking juices from the sausages, semi-frying and semi-roasting until cooked through. Throw the sausages back into the pan for the last 5 minutes and serve with generous helpings of chutney.

Instantly recognisable by their red and green welly boots on the packaging, you can purchase debbie&andrew’s sausages at Amazon Fresh, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
