With Organic September at full speed, Organic Castello di Albola’s 2023 Chianti Classico might be just the wine to try this autumn.
Rain, stormy weather, cold darker nights and kids back to school, autumn is officially here. I’m putting the white aside and seeking something warming.

One of the tempting contestants is an Organic Castello di Albola’s 2023 Chianti Classico.
The Chianti comes from Castello di Albola a certified organic estate located in the highest hills of Radda in Chianti, a medieval town in the heart of the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation.
It spans 900ha, 110ha of which are planted with vines at up to 680m above sea level.
The estate operates sustainably using green manuring – planting special crops in order to maintain and increase soil fertility and soil’s microfauna.
Vegetable garden and 600ha of woodland and olive groves surrounding the estate also help to enhance the biodiversity of the area.
The estate produces many stunning wines including a vivid ruby-red Organic Castello di Albola’s Chianti. In the glass it shows aromas of red fruit including cherry and raspberry, accompanied by a gentle touch of oak.
On the tongue it’s elegant and well balanced with slight tannins, offering a light to medium body with velvety texture.
The Chianti can be found in Claridge’s Wine Cellar – a boutique wine shop hidden beneath the iconic Mayfair hotel. It’s available to purchase at £40 (retail).
It can also be enjoyed by the glass in Claridge’s Bar. Customers dining in Claridge’s Restaurant can enjoy the wine at the retail price.
