To celebrate Veganuary, Charles Artisan Bread has launched its Vegan Savoury Croissants menu which is available at both sites in Clapton and Chobham.

Who doesn’t love a croissant? All that flaky buttery goodness dipped, if you’re like me, into a big bowl of milky morning coffee.

How about moving up a notch though and filling your croissant with something savoury and, as it’s Veganaury, something vegan too>

Pop into Charles Artisan Bread and you can choose from three vegan croissants, including Cheese and Tomato, Zalmon and Cream Cheese and Vegan N’duja & Brie, all priced at £4,25 and available across the whole month.

We tried one of each and found they made a pretty good lunch option, and more filling than they first appeared.

Zalmon®️ is interesting stuff. It looks just like smoked salmon and has a very similar texture. It’s full make up is a bit of a secret but basically it’s thin ribbons of carrot that has the smoky flavours of smoked salmon. Usually you’d put it with cream cheese into a bagel, but why not a croissant? Less chewy than a bagel, a bit lighter and with overtones of caramel.

Vegan N’duja & Brie, was good too but not enough N’duja bite for my taste, it needed some more to push back against the caramel notes which seemed more pronounced in this one.

Tasty little things to try when you’re passing the Clapton or Chobham sites
