New pop-up brings a menu of duck, chips to London
Anyone who has ever been in to La Tupina in Bordeaux will have emerged hours later a few stone heavier and with a sheen of duck fat about their person.
Opening on Brushfield Street on Friday 23rd November, Monsieur Le Duck is a new pop-up restaurant set to bring the food and wine of South-West France to the heart of London. Inspired by Gascony, it will offer a simple menu, focusing on duck, chips, salad and wine.
Fronted by Londoner Richard Humphreys, a frequent traveler to Gascony, Monsieur Le Duck embodies the idea of douceur de vivre, roughly translated as “sweetness of livingâ€Â.
Monsieur Le Duck aims to emulate long lunches in village squares, laughter amongst friends, carafes of local wine, Armagnac, and, most importantly, duck. The result is a fun, light hearted and delicious homage to duck, lots of duck, so much duck.
Located in glass-fronted premises between Liverpool Street Station and Spitalfields Market, the 55 cover, 6-month pop-up restaurant will be managed by George Ryan, previously at Village East, Railhouse CafeÌ and Burger & Lobster.
Monsieur Le Duck will offer a small menu centred on duck cooked three ways: a choice of Confit Duck Leg, Duck Magret Breast or Duck Burger served with chips and a mixed leaf salad. Typical regional sides with a modern twist and French classic desserts, such as creÌ€me bruÌ‚leÃŒÂe complete the menu, which will be available throughout the day, 7 days per week.
Monsieur Le Duck will be offering carefully selected wines, focusing on South-West France; available by the glass, carafe or bottle. The wines will be complemented by signature Armagnac based aperitifs and French beers.
Monsieur Le Duck will officially open to the public on the evening of Friday 23rd November, with a soft launch period taking place between Wednesday 21st – and lunch time on Friday 23rd November, during which food will be offered with a 50% discount. The pop-up will run until May 2019.
