mcith_jamon.jpgGuests are invited to celebrate the craft and culture of ham carving where they will witness the five chosen finalists go head to head, and one lucky contestant will be crowned the winner of the prestigious art of’tallado’.

The finalists at this year’s ham carving competition will be put to the test under the watchful eye of a panel of experienced judges, including one of Spain’s award-winning carving experts, José Manuel Hidalgo flown over to the UK especially.

Marked on four core areas – speed, creativity, accuracy and skill, candidates will be asked to carve from a leg of a 100% Ibérico pig, attempting to pare the perfect plate.

A host of prizes are up for grabs this year with the Grand Prize being a trip to Extremadura to visit the Ibérico pigs, as well as receiving an acorn-fed 100% Ibérico ham alongside the highly sought after ham carving trophy.

Spectators will be invited to try their hand at carving using the cuchillo jamonero, the foot-long knife used to slice the meat from the leg.

To pair with the ham, Estrella Galicia will be serving their award-winning draught beer as well as a selection of bottles.

Their master beer champion will also be hosting a masterclass on how to pour the perfect Caña. Pintxos inspired by Ibérico meat will be served by Brindisa Kitchens.
