Forest Hill’s Babur celebrates Diwali from 6–8 November with a five-course tasting menu, paired wines and a candlelit evening of live entertainment.

This Diwali, Babur invites guests to celebrate the Festival of Lights with a special five-course tasting menu, available from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 November 2026. Created by Head Chef Jiwan Lal, the menu brings together contemporary Indian cooking, regional flavours and seasonal ingredients in a celebration of the warmth, generosity and joy at the heart of Diwali.

A much-loved Forest Hill institution for 41 years, Babur has built its reputation on the diversity and richness of Indian cuisine. For this year’s celebrations, Jiwan draws on these traditions to create a menu that moves from vibrant street-food favourites to coastal-inspired seafood, aromatic curries and a classic Indian festive sweet, reimagined with Babur’s distinctive touch.

The experience begins with Delhi Style Ram Laddu Chaat — crisp moong dal fritters topped with grated radish, mint chutney and sweet tamarind — paired with a Riesling from Alex Pauly in Germany. Next comes Malvani Fish Tikka, featuring char-grilled wild salmon seasoned with coastal Malwani spices and served with smoked coconut chutney, accompanied by Pinot Blanc from Alsace.

For the main courses, Chicken Anarkali combines tender chicken with a rich, luxurious gravy of saffron, almonds and cashews. Alongside it, Palak Paneer Kofta brings together delicate paneer dumplings and a creamy spinach sauce, gently infused with aromatic spices.

To finish, Khoya Gujiya offers a fitting tribute to Diwali’s sweet traditions. Flaky pastry encases a rich filling of reduced milk, nuts and fragrant spices, served with saffron yoghurt ice cream for a contemporary take on a much-loved festive treat.

Each course is complemented by a carefully selected wine pairing. The five-course Diwali tasting menu is priced at £64.95 per person, with an optional wine flight available for an additional £30.

The celebrations culminate on Sunday 8 November with Babur’s candlelit Diwali Party. Combining the full five-course tasting menu with live performances, the evening promises a festive atmosphere in which food, culture and the spirit of togetherness take centre stage. Tickets for the Diwali Party menu are priced at £74.95 per person.
