At a glittering launch event, as the tabloids say, Japan week kicked off with lots of food, drink and Lexus. We was there.

The Lexus Takumi Townhouse in Covent Garden is host to a vibrant array of Japanese culture and cuisine giving the Japan Week Festival a permanent hub.

Throughout the week the public can visit for all sorts of food, drink, and cultural experiences. Plus restaurants, bars and venues across London and the UK will be packed full of one-off events, bookable treats, limited-edition menus and exclusive discounts.

Both sizeable and boutique restaurants and bars across London are taking part, from high end restaurants such as Nobu, Novikov and M Restaurants, through to some of the coolest restaurants including Bone Daddies, Kanpai and Japanified.

Highlighting Japan’s culture and film, Japan Week is partnering with The BFI, which is launching a Japanese film series this Autumn, while discerning drinkers will be able to experience some of the country’s finest spirits, beers and sake.

The festival will play host to a range of Japanese pop-up experiences at The Lexus Takumi Townhouse, Stables X, Seven Dials, in Covent Garden.

These Include a KANPAI sake tasting where Co-founder Tom Wilson and his team tell their fascinating story of the UKs first Sake Brewery, describe their production process and presents a seasonal limited edition Sake, as well as origami workshops with Coco Sato and a Ueshima Japanese coffee lounge, with hosted sessions from their Coffee Master.
