This September Japan Centre’s Gekkeikan Master Cooking Competition will, for a second year running, call on budding chefs and cooks alike to compete to become the new Gekkeikan cooking master.

Entrants will be asked to create two recipes, one savoury and one sweet, that feature sake as a key element. A panel of judges to include Andrew Kojima (MasterChef Finalist), Yukimasa Noda (Gekkeikan Sake Brewery), Rie Yoshitake (Sake Samurai), Anna Greenhouse (Harpers) and Kanji Furukawa (Shoryu Ramen’s Executive Chef) will then pick a selection of finalists to go head to head on 22nd January at School of Wok. Entrants will be asked to apply online from Sept 12th at: www.japancentre.com/gekkeikan2016

The winner will be rewarded with an exclusive trip to Japan including a sake brewing course at Gekkeikan in Kyoto. Runners up prizes include a sake sommelier course at the Sake Sommelier Academy in London, dinner for two at soon-to-open high end Japanese restaurant and sake bar Sakagura and Gekkeikan sake with a sake glass.

Entries to the competition open on September 12th and close on December 12th with finalists being announced on January 4th.
