It’s finally summer in London, which means alfresco dining.

Foodepedia is eager to share some of our favourite London restaurants with terraces offering alfresco dining.

Rotunda

Rotunda a cool spot by the Regent’s canal a short walk from Kings Cross has transformed its terrace into a Tulum Themed getaway this summer.

It’s Riviera Maya all summer long with a Mexican-inspired summer menu, alongside a cocktail list centred around tequila and mezcal featuring Amber Beverage Groups’ agave portfolio including KAH Tequila, Rooster Rojo Tequila, Fortaleza Tequila and Madre Mezcal. 

Plus theme inspired menu including tuna tartare or refried bean tacos served with tequila, lime and pico de gallo salsa; or try Rotunda’s Sticky Corneyside Farm beef croquettes with habanero mayonnaise and lime. 

Rotunda also launched a programme of events from yoga and wellness to botanical workshops and weekly sundown sessions with a line-up of DJs, mezcal and tequila masterclasses including:

  • Kicked off in May – Saturday morning brunch and yoga with The Fore gym  
  • Monday 10th July – Pina Colada masterclass 
  • Monday 24th July  – Tequila and taco tasting in honour of world tequila day

Nobu Shoreditch

Nobu Hotel London Shoreditch the iconic lifestyle hotel in East London, has just opened a brand-new destination bar, Nobu Shoreditch Bar & Terrace.

Situated at the entrance of Nobu Restaurant Shoreditch, the cool hangout is the ideal spot to grab a post-work cocktail, or enjoy world renowned Nobu signature dishes, small plates and sushi in a relaxed setting.

The space boasts cool interiors, Japanese artworks and a carefully curated menu of cocktails. Ideal for the summer, the terrace maps out onto a gorgeous alfresco sunken garden with four intricate levels flanked with comfortable and refined seating.

The cocktail menu spans robust and diverse options, suitable for all tastes. The Yuzu & Apple Martini is deliciously fresh, combining Grey Goose Essence Strawberry with lemongrass, citrus, basil and apple, served straight up.

The Stingless Bee Margarita is a fantastic twist on everyone’s favourite summer cocktail. The drink, served on the rocks, mixes Rooster Rojo Tequila with honey liquor, peach, coconut and Mediterranean citrus.

Those looking for an alcohol-free option can relish in the Sakura, a maraschino cherry-flavoured iced tea with blueberries, jasmine tea and lemon juice. Plus of course a wide range of beers, wines, Champagnes, sake and spirits, including a robust Japanese whisky collection paired with the Nobu dishes in a casual bar or terrace setting.

Mama Shelter

Mama Shelter Shoreditch also has a terrace offering a slightly different alfresco dining, the venue is filled with live plants and rattan style seating along bold black and white décor. It’s different because it actually has a roof making it especially good for rainy days.

Mama Shelter Shoreditch has teamed up with Didsbury Gin offering G&T such as Strawberry and Lemon based Sweet & Sour Twist gin and tonic and Bramble Spritz.

Plus gin based cocktails such as Rhubarb & Ginger Ginsecco and Basil Smash. The collaboration is only till end of July. More details here.

Guests can also enjoy Mama’s infamous snack menu features most ordered – Confit Duck Spring Rolls served with hoisin plum sauce, spring onion and cucumber salad.

Or Chicken Popcorn and Spiced Crispy Squid served with samphire on squid ink aioli sauce to name a few.

Mandrake Jerume

The Mandrake, Fitzrovia’s multi-award-winning, luxury lifestyle property, has opened Jurema Summer Terrace for the summer. The terrace is one of a kind offering a sensual oasis of serenity in the middle of the city. The space, famed for its beautiful hanging garden of suspended jasmine and passionflower.

The stunningly decorated space is serving up summer ethnobotanical cocktails and South American-inspired modern European small plates from YOPO restaurant. 

Located on the first-floor terrace, Jurema is framed with stunning foliage and flanked with plush, comfortable seating, boasting an open roof for sunbathing and stargazing.

Overlooking the Courtyard’s soaring Tasmanian Ferns, Jurema’s open-air bar is unlike any other in London.

Guests can indulge on a range of small and sharing plates including YOPO’s famous Portland Crab, Gala Apple, and Caviar Brioche, as well as Salt Cod Croqueta, Piquillo & Chilli Aioli and Garlic Jamon Iberico & Salted Butter Crispbread.

While guests visiting for lunch and dinner have an extensive menu of meat, seafood and vegetable dishes to choose from. Including, Grilled Octopus, Potato & Hot Smoked Paprika, Grilled Prawns, Garlic, Ginger & Ají Amarillo and Burrata, Sikil Pak & Grilled Green Beans.

For refreshments, Jurema’s expert team of mixologist created Latin American inpired cocktails such as Mangosteen, a blend of mangosteen & hibiscus infused Patrón Silver Tequila with chipotle agave, jalapeño vinegar, grapefruit soda & chilli.

And the Citrine is a fresh and fruity blend of ginger & rosemary-infused Bombay Sapphire Gin, orange liquor, mastic roots liquor & lemon juice. To name just a few.

Jurema’s summer terrace is open for walk-ins and reservations.

3 Henrietta Street

PizzaLuxe has partnered with 3 Henrietta Street to launch an al fresco restaurant right on the iconic Covent Garden piazza for summer.

PizzaLuxe serves summer classics such as Aperol Spritz for the summer mood and Bufala pizza, an indulgent Cinque Formaggi, or the unusual Salmone Bianca to enjoy in the sun on the piazza. 

3 Henrietta Street is also a home to Lilly’s Café, which also has a terrace and El Ta’koy. Lilly’s Café is serving bottomless brunch paired with Ultimate Provence Rose.

The Ultimate Brunch includes your choice of two Lily’s Café dishes, a slice of cake and unlimited glasses of Ultimate Provence’s rose wine for £50. Those refraining from the booze can enjoy two dishes, a slice of cake and seraphic colourful coffee for £25.
