On 1st October 2016 the Shoryu Ramen Restaurant Group  will be celebrating World Sake Day by offering a complimentary sake for every diner after 6pm.  They have also created a special flight of three different sakes, which will be available for £6.50, as well as 20% off selected sake (including Nigori, Karakuchi and Nouvelle Junmai Ginjo) bought at their parent company, Japan Centre, in their Piccadilly store and online.

World Sake Day is an annual event held as a tribute to sake on October 1st which is traditionally the starting date of sake production in Japan. Collaborating with both brands on the event is one of the oldest companies in the world Gekkeikan, which has been producing sake since 1637 and has the royal warrant supplying the Japanese Imperial Household.

Sake features prominently on Shoryu’s drinks menu and none more so than at Shoryu Soho, which boasts one of the largest selections of sake, shochu and umeshu plum wine in the UK. For the complimentary sake, Shoryu Ramen will offer Gekkeikan Namasake, which, unlike other types of sake, is unpasteurised for a stronger taste and aroma.

The flight of sakes, will include three Gekkeikan Sakes – Josen Sake (fruity, mellow flavour with a sharp aftertaste), Tarusake (rich in taste with a refreshing cedar flavour) and Konotsuki (a pure rice sake with an intensive aroma). All of these choices have been especially chosen by Maria Vittoria Veccione, bar manager and mixologist for Shoryu Ramen.
