Sushi Shop is launching its limited edition SUSHI SHOP FOOTBALL CLUB box. Designed by the French artist Tyrsa, the box has a rather wonderful sushi selection with three new recipes.
The new recipes have been selected by Sushi Shop’s chefs over several months and joy of joys; we were sent a box to try for lunch. Suddenly no one was keen to go to Pret anymore. Or ever, really.The three new recipes weree
– SUNNY ROLL (6 pieces): A fresh and slightly sour maki roll, thanks to the combination of kumquat and yuzu sauce. The added sea bream and avocado gave it a melting texture. Sea bream, kumquat, avocado, yuzu miso sauce
– SMOKY ROLL (6 pieces): This ‘gourmet roll’ is full of smoky flavours of Japanese tonkatsu sauce and smoked mozzarella, cucumber and shrimp tempura, topped with Thai chives. Contains Smoked mozzarella, shrimp tempura, cucumber, tonkatsu sauce, Thai chives, 7-spice shichimi.
– CREAMY SUSHI (2 pieces): This salmon sushi is covered with a seared masago egg sauce for smooth yet crispy feel. Contains Salmon, Japanese mayonnaise, masago.
Tyrsa is a 31-year-old Parisian graphic designer who specialises in typography. He graduated from Gobelins in 2007 and has already worked with such famous brands as Nike, MoÃƒÂ«t & Chandon, Carhartt and even the UN.
As for the food overall, delicious. Fin flappingly fresh, very unusual and exciting flavours right out of the box. About five people snacked on the contents, which are probably too much for two people, although it would be great fun to try to eat the lot.
It comes of course with soy, wasabi and pickled ginger to add to taste. The wasabi went up everyone’s nose, but hey that’s wasabi for you! A rather good lunchtime treat.
