Gin Foundry is back with its booze-filled countdown to Christmas and the original gin advent calendar, as Ginvent returns for 2016.

Fuelling the festive season with a juniper laced journey of discovery, hidden behind each door of the Ginvent calendar is a different 30ml dram of gin to be enjoyed.

Representative of Gin Foundry’s core mission to celebrate gin and help drinkers find their perfect tipple, the team works hard to ensure that

New additions for 2016 include gins of every description, from an awardwinning Finnish gin through to seemingly magical colour-changing gins, sloe gins, Navy Strength, Old Tom, Barrel Aged, fruit infused and more – allowing people to bring the wonders of gin home this Christmas.

Gin Foundry spent months of the year researching and sourcing the perfect gins for Ginvent, to make sure it provided a representative snapshot of the category’s depth, diversity and global reach. For 2016 quirkier offerings include Sharish Blue Magic Gin which changes colour, mysteriously turning from blue to pink once mixed with tonic.

Utilising unique production methods Nginious Smoked & Salted sees the gin smoked before a saline solution is added, whilst Ballyvolane Bertha’s Revenge Milk Gin is made using Irish whey milk as a base for a distinctive taste and texture.

On the more traditional side is Napue Gin, a Finnish gin that won BestGin & Tonic 2015 and is made using a rye base, whilst fellow Scandi gin Herno Sloe Gin from Sweden is from the creators of the gin that won best Gin & Tonic 2016 – organic and not overly sweetened, it offers a dryer Sloe Gin experience.

Making its exclusive debut in the calendar is Makar Glasgow Old Tom, a new expression from the Glasgow Distillery, whilst Audemus Pink Pepper is made in Cognac and infused with tonka and vanilla to provide a gourmet gin drinking experience.

For the grand finale, Gin Foundry have also developed a bespoke and exclusivegin for the calendar, based around the nostalgia and excitement of Christmas Eve.

Ginvent originally started five years ago when brothers and co-founders of Gin Foundry, Olivier and Emile Ward, decided to do something about the absence of many people’s favourite juniper based spirit during the festive season. They designed and crafted a two by two metre calendar in a bar in central London and each day opened a new door, inviting people to share the gin love with G&Ts, cocktails and tastings.

Flooded by requests for a miniature version that could be enjoyed at home, Ginvent as we know it today was born. Keeping the spirit of the original calendar alive, Ginvent is a shared experience with live tastings via social media each night  along with tasting notes and interviews with the makers published throughout the month online.

The perfect way to explore the gin category and discover a new gin of choice, whether it’s a gift for the gin enthusiast, or a personal incentive to get through you through the hectic holiday season, the calendar provides an insight into all types of producers, from the artisanal and craft through to the more familiar, larger names.
