Yeni brings a fully vegan, 10-course tasting menu of modern Istanbul delights to Soho.
Beak Street’s Yeni, and celebrated chef and founder Civan Er, have announced the launch of the restaurant’s first tasting menu.
The new offering is a 10-course, fully vegan menu with a focus on seasonality and a uniquely modern take on the food of Istanbul.
This tasting menu of Turkish, plant-based delights will regularly change to reflect the best produce the season has to offer.
Istanbul-inspired dishes available on the seasonally led menu, which will be a permanent fixture at Yeni priced at £57pp, include Vine Leaves Tempura with Spicy Chickpeas, Grilled Peppers & Walnuts; Bulgur Fritter with Portobello Mushroom, Green Lentils, Pickled Zahter & Cumin.
Every dish on the plant-based menu has been curated and crafted by Civan. Diners are able to sample Civan’s home-made Katmer – Crisp Pastry with Pistachios and Coconut ice Cream, as well as Mosaic Chocolate Cake with Grilled Bananas & Pecan Nuts.
Also on the vegan tasting menu is Yeni’s signature Manti; a traditional dumpling eaten in almost every town in Turkey and one of the country’s most prominent dishes, prepared and shared by families on special days.
As one of the few makers of hand-rolled Manti in England, Civan has created a vegan recipe for his famous speciality; Home-made Manti Dumplings with Grilled Aubergines & Almonds.
For the dish to be vegan, Civan has adapted his pastry recipe and substituted the dish’s traditional Double Fermented Yoghurt Sauce for a Zahter-Coriander Paste, chosen to emulate the much-loved flavour of the original dish.
To drink, a short but focused menu features cocktails made with freshly squeezed juices and fruit; house made tonic and bitters.
The wines on the all European list are chosen to compliment the taste and origin of the food served at Yeni. It includes some of the best Turkish wines available alongside both classic and more unusual organic and natural wines from Greece, France, Italy and Spain
