Umami addicts, Japanophiles, and dumpling devotees can now gather at Japanese-style gastropub, Yumi Izakaya in London’s West End, to become great at all things gyoza.
The restaurant’s newly-introduced Gyoza Masterclass helps diners get hands-on with Yumi Izakaya’s pork and ginger gyoza alongside all the elements you need to make a night of it.
For £40 per person the class includes: a signature cocktail on arrival; interactive gyoza masterclass with Yumi’s owner and head chef Caspar von Hofmannsthal; feast-style dinner with half a bottle of wine per person and an after-dinner sake. (The package is also available without alcohol for £20 per person).
Having prepped your delicate and delicious gyoza parcels they will be steamed, fried and served-up alongside the feast menu. Dishes include: a selection of skewers from the robata grill which feature various cuts of free range herb chicken, meatball and tender beef rib-eye; as well as Yumi fries (French fries, okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes and nori); braised aubergine in sake; and warm mushroom salad. Gluten-free options are also available on request.
Packed with an array of interesting and unusual options to quench your thirst, the bar features a carefully curated wine list, innovative cocktails, a selection of sakes and three varieties of Amabuki Shochu.
The Yumi Izakaya Gyoza Masterclass is available to book on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for parties of 6-12 people and lasts approximately two hours.
