Lucy Self samples the new tea range from Pukka Herbs.

Gather round hot drink devotees, because Pukka (the’organic herb specialist’ and purveyor of the prettiest boxed tea bags in the business) have launched four new flavours just in time to sip away the cold snap. Being the health-conscious lot that we are (when we’re not necking wine and indulging in ten course tasting menus) we jumped at the chance to try out the four-strong range.

Keeping very much to Pukka’s marketing master print, the new flavours are packaged beautifully and packed full of zeitgeisty wellbeing ingredients. First up the Chamomile, Vanilla & Manuka Honey which comes in an almost William Morris-esque printed box and the promise of’a soothing dip in an organic pool of calm’. Whilst we can’t confirm the latter, it makes a lovely drop before bed and we liked the addition of manuka so we could convince ourselves we were being healed with every cup.

Womankind – a blend of organic cranberry, rose & sweet vanilla – is delicious for those that enjoy a fruit tea, but we have to confess to finding the description (“herbal support for the modern woman with a busy schedule”) and name a little sickly sweet for our cynical palates.

Detox with Lemon is a refreshing take on Pukka’s existing, and best selling, Detox tea of which always been a fan (great way to convince yourself you’ve offset those ten bottles of Friday night wine). Wild Apple & Cinnamon with Ginger is another expert blend and perfect for the upcoming festive season when the smell of heady spice should never be out of the air. It also comes in our favourite of new box designs, a pleasing geometric swirl of red, green and orange.

Pukka have done it again, with a foursome, which are sure to fly from shop shelves to kitchen display units across the country. We’ve decided to put the entire range on our Christmas list so when January comes round, we’ll have a perfect antidote to the party season…
