Still a present short for Christmas or need a New Year bottle to bring along? There’s a lovely, well-mannered Southern Gentleman waiting for you.
Jack Daniels is synonymous with strong drink, the name on a thousand rock bands’ lips and the tipple of hell-raisers for decades.
Which is a bit unfair as Jack Daniels the man was a polite man with high standards and, for the time, high morals. His distillery in Lynchburg Tennessee is a place of pilgrimage for his many fans and admirers,
People often confuse Jack Daniels with Bourbon, but it isn’t. It is actually what’s called Tennessee Whisky
Tennessee Whisky must be made in Tennessee and must by law use the filtering step known as the Lincoln County Process prior to aging. This process uses maple charcoal and the original mash must be made up of at least 51% corn and the whisky must be aged in new charred oak barrels.
Gentleman Jack goes one better, it gets filtered twice, this second charcoal filtering makes it even smoother, sweeter and lighter. You could almost call it, and Jack Daniels actually does, a starter Tennessee whisky.
With its rich vanilla and caramel aromas and flavours and lack of harshness in the throat it’s very palatable, easy to get on with even if you’re not used to Tennessee Whisky.
A real gentleman to get to know now and for 2018. Available at most Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys
