Where to eat on Thanksgiving
Get down to Town House at The Kensington from five for a slap-up turkey day feast, with traditional dishes such as butternut squash sage soup, roast bronze turkey confit leg beignet and pumpkin tart on the menu.
If you’re looking for somewhere a little bit more central, Marylebone’s 108 Brasserie is promising a totally transatlantic time, with a menu comprising of New England clam chowder (pronounced chawdauh for the uninitiated) to start, traditional roasted Caldecott farm bronze turkey for main and pumpkin pie for dessert.
Staying in the west end, Mayfair staple Beck at Brown’s are putting on a three course special for £60 per person featuring a pumpkin soup with cinnamon and woodland mushrooms, traditional roast turkey and an especially delicious sounding dark chocolate spiced pie with crème fraiche and ice cream.
Joe Allen will be celebrating with a varied menu that will suit those who won’t be gobbling up a turkey. Fish fanciers can instead try the fried sea bass fillet served with rosemary roast potatoes, spinach, and a silky lobster sauce, though the requisite turkey is still very much on the menu.
In true Joe Allen style, the celebrations will come with a little musical theatricality: pianist and resident American Lee Sloan will be there tinkling the ivories, playing everything from Broadway melodies to jazz standards – top marks if you get him playing this classic.
Should you find yourself south of the river on the day itself, the offering at Sea Containers in Southbank’s Mondrian Hotel is set to be a decidedly indulgent affair; look out for the creamy chestnut mac & cheese with aged parmesan and white truffle oil starter (£14), and the showpiece sharer Herefordshire turkey with all the trimmings, including pork stuffing, root vegetables, cranberry compote and turkey gravy (£45 for two).
To finish, guests can tuck in to a sweet potato pie topped with maple Chantilly cream, served with pecan nut crumble and mango gel (£8), and wash it down with specially mixed cocktails including the Kentucky Elixer and Chic-cherry Old Fashioned.
Where to eat all weekend
The Jones Family will be hosting a three-day turkey spectacular, with a three-course £35pp menu or a £70pp menu that includes drinks pairings inspired by some of America’s best-loved rock n’ roll anthems.
Running from Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th at the Shoreditch and Belgravia locations, menu highlights include cream of squash soup with pumpkin seeds & winter truffle; roast turkey with buttermilk mash, greens, sprouts, garlic buttered breadcrumbs, lashings of gravy, Jones’ Thanksgiving stuffing, and cranberry sauce; and to finish, a choice between a pumpkin pie with double cream or a pecan pie served with nougat and cranberries.
Should you opt for the drinks-paired menu, there are a range of whiskey-based cocktails on offer inspired by an eclectic host stateside singers, including Guns n’ Roses, Neil Diamond and the evergreen Aretha Franklin.

Just in it for the pie
And finally, Konditor & Cook have all you sweet-toothed foodies that like to skip straight to dessert covered with not one but two special pies to mark America’s favourite holiday.
Available online and instore between Monday 12th and Sunday 24th November, they’ve whipped up a crispy sweet pastry pie loaded with crunchy pecans and a buttery sweet filling, and a spiced pumpkin pie set in a sweet buttery pastry base.
We don’t know about you, but this year we’re definitely thankful for comfy pants.
