Muswell Hill residents can find speciality foods in their own neighborhood now that owners of the Clissold Arms gastropub have opened a grocer next door. Sleepy commuters can stop by Clissold Grocer to pick up hand-roasted coffees and teas, breakfast pastries, homemade granola and freshly squeezed fruit juices. Take-out lunch specials range from freshly made quiches and tarts to salads, pasta dishes, sausage rolls, terrines and patés. Chef Jake Young and his kitchen team from the neighbouring pub are designing the menu.
And residents will be able to find much more than toothpaste and beer on the shelves of this conveniently located neighborhood market. The Clissold Grocer will be the only London-area grocer to carry Rizzardi’s olive oil. Grocer owners Hugh O’Boyle and Caroline Jones discovered the exclusive olive oil on wine-buying trips to the Rizzardi’s vineyard. The Italian grower produces only nine-hundred litres of this specialty oil each year, so shoppers are in for a treat.
Well-stocked deli cases will help busy families put delicious dinners on their tables. Offerings will include casseroles, roasted chickens, duck confit, harrisa braised lamb shanks and coq au vin. Homemade chutneys, preserves and cooking sauces will accent any meal. Hand-crafted beer, wines and desserts will also be available.
The Clissold Grocer, 115 Fortis Green, Muswell Hill, N2 9HR Opening times: 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday
