Does your local pub provide the perfect Ploughman’s? Does the café on the corner make a mighty cheese meal? Do you long to let the nation know where to find the very best traditional British platter? Then the West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers need you.

West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers, the group of 12 cheesemakers who craft traditional authentic Cheddar by hand on their farms, has launched a country-wide search for the nation’s preferred Ploughman’s platter.

The ‘Strictly Come Ploughman’s’ competition is enlisting the expertise of the Great British public who can nominate the source of their favourite Ploughman’s Lunch, be it pub, café or restaurant. Regional finalists will be judged by a panel of experts at the Great British Cheese Festival and the winning formula announced at the beginning of British Cheese Week on the 26th September.

So drop the West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers a line at [email protected] or send a postcard (including your address) to: Strictly Come Ploughman’s, West Country Farmhouse Cheesemakers, Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 6QN and let them know who you think serves the best Ploughman’s Lunch. The closing date for nominations and the prize draw is 31 August 2009.
