Double Standard’s garden hosts a three-week-long BBQ series bringing world grilling action from cult status chefs.

Hidden away from the bustle of the street it brings world BBQ culture, including the Caribbean, Indonesia and the Deep South.

Kicking off the summer BBQ series, is Riaz Phillips, author of West Winds and Bellyfull, and known for some of the spiciest collaborations in town. Riaz is bringing his signature vibe north with his cookout Caribbean menu.

Honey BBQ Jerk Chicken, sweet and hot, Annato Peppered Prawns, picante and a tart torched on the Big Green Egg, and long and slow, Pulled Jackfruit Brisket stuffed in soft rolls. Alongside, there’s Elote, halved and fired corn cobs, covered with mayo, dusted with coconut flakes and coconut sugar, and classic ‘Slaw and Streaky fries with scotch bonnet ketchup.  

Then Tom Zahir Browne of Decatur, king of the seafood boil, brings his Louisiana BBQ to the table. Expect the Big Green Egg cooking half lobsters smothered in New Orleans Barbecue Sauce and Ember Roasted Sweet Potato with Smoked Onion Cream, Calabrian Chilli, Greens and Sourdough.

For meat eaters, there’s Smoked Maple Glazed Bacon Cured Pork Chop with dirty rice, and side dishes including Wood Fired Cornbread with Honey Butter, Charred Okra, Whipped Ricotta and Pepper Jelly, plus Braised Collard Greens with Smoked Mushrooms and Black-Eyed Peas. 

Next is pop-up sensation Rahel Stephanie, who’s supper club Eat With Spoons has been likened to Glasto tickets in their hard-to-getness. She joins The Standard, London firing up her Big Green Egg in Double Standard’s garden for some Indonesian inspired plant-based BBQ hits. Look forward to Indonesian dishes including 

Sate Tempe Maranggi (Marinated tempe skewers served with spiced kecap manis),  

Jagung Bakar Pedas Manis (grilled corn with spicy sweet chili sauce) and Ikan Bakar Sambal Matah (marinated barramundi fillet served with a fragrant Balinese relish).  

Keeping you cool and hydrated, enjoy the BBQ dishes alongside a selection of Double Standard drinks, including: ice cold beers, classic cocktails and a new boozy soda selection of Grape Soda with Lime, Cinnamon and Vodka, Rose Malt with Malted Rice Milk, Rose Petals and Gin, plus a Smoked Strawberry Syrup with Scotch Whiskey.  

Tickets cost £35 per person & include a welcome drink (frozen margarita or lager), one main dish & one side dish.
