mcith_IMG_0031.jpgOpening from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th May – to tie in with the popular Chelsea Flower Show 2019 – the restaurant is just a short walk from the show and will feature a fine dining experience (available for pre-bookings from midday until 21:30), a walk-in brasserie (serving breakfast from 09:00 – 11:30) a deli (from 12:00 – 19:00), and a bar with grazing menu (open from 12:00 – 21:30).

We happily accepted an invite to try a bit of brunch in, at the time of writing, the shell of the restaurant where Ollie turned out his renowned pastries; think Garden Cupcake, Malted pain au chocolate and apricot and lemon balm custard brioche.

Those disposed of we turned to fresh ricotta with new season strawberries, crystallised pistachios and lemon verbena.

mcith_toast.JPGAvocado on the most delicious toasted bread with crushed green herbs and toasted angelica seeds was oily and rich and very edible.

And finally, dramatically wreathed in dry ice, came the Loch Duart salmon tartare with iced eucalyptus. Trust us, you have never eaten anything like this before.

Visitors will not only able to dine at Chelsea Barracks Kitchen by Ollie Dabbous but also to view the first of the site’s garden squares – the culinary garden of Mulberry Square and the wildlife haven of Bourne Walk.

Having learnt his trade at Le Manoir, with its renowned culinary garden style cooking; Mulberry Square will provide Ollie with access to a range of fresh seasonal produce to use within the Chelsea Barracks Kitchen by Ollie Dabbous menu.

Main menu highlights will include candy-striped beetroot with marigold, toasted pistachio & Sussex Slipcote, papillote of Gigha halibut, Cornish mussels & yellow courgette in a nasturtium broth, and for dessert, a heavenly orange blossom custard doughnut.

Ollie was there and in fine spirits said, “it’s going to be a fun project for myself and some of the HIDE team. I’m looking forward to cooking in an amazing venue, producing outstanding dishes with a botanical touch”.
