Soho House has opened Chicken Shop & Dirty Burger Wimbledon, a short stroll from Wimbledon tube station. The menu, created by Nick Jones, founder of Soho House, offers the original Chicken Shop dishes as well as the Dirty Burger classics.
Wimbledon will be the tenth site in London to offer the Dirty Burger menu, with sister restaurants also in Barcelona and Chicago. Guests can choose from signature Dirty Burger Cheeseburger, Dirty Bacon or vegetarian Dirty Cop-Out. Three cuts of beef are used in the patties, including rump and sirloin for extra flavour. Buns are baked to the Dirty Burger specification; a soft roll with a slight glaze on top. At the weekend the breakfast menu includes Sausage & Egg muffins, Bacon & Egg muffins and Avocado & Tomato muffins.
Chickens are roasted and served quartered, halved or whole. Accompanying sauces include Smokey and Hot, both created on-site and exclusive to Chicken Shop. The birds are marinated overnight using a specially developed recipe and then steamed to lock in flavour and keep the meat succulent. Just before serving, the whole chickens are transferred to the bespoke rotisserie grill, where they are cooked over charcoal and wood. The result is the ideal combination of juicy, perfectly cooked meat and crispy skin.
Main dishes can be had with simple sides including crinkle-cut chips, onion fries, creamy coleslaw, corn on the cob, butter lettuce and avocado salad. American-style desserts include deep filled apple pie, where guests are encouraged to’say when’ on their size of slice; other options are warm chocolate brownie or lemon tart, all served with either cream or homemade vanilla ice cream.
The drinks menu includes a selection of beers, wines and soft drinks, as well as some new cocktails;’Tommy’s Margarita’,’Bourbon Sour’,’Espresso Martini’ and’Eastern Standard’.
The 70 cover restaurant has been designed in-house by Jones and his team, who took inspiration from the look and feel of 1950s American general stores. As at all the Chicken Shop sites, takeaway is als available from the Wimbledon restaurant.
