Celebrate the festival of Durga Puja at Indo-Chinese restaurant Fatt Pundit, this October

mcith_FP-306.jpgThis October, Fatt Pundit will celebrate Kolkata’s auspicious festival Durga Puja from the 4th to the 8th of October, in the style of the Tangra district, aka Chinatown in Kolkata.

In Tangra over Durga Puja the gods are offered dishes of noodles, Fatt Pundit will herald the festivities by serving a bowl of Chow-mein to all diners, on the house

Visitors to Fatt Pundit will also discover the traditions of ‘Hakka’ food. Hakka – Indo-Chinese combines traditional Chinese ingredients and techniques such as wok cooking, with bold Indian flavours and ingredients for a marriage of the cuisines.

This culinary fusion originated in Kolkata when the Hakka people migrated from the Chinese province of Canton to India.

A menu of new dishes will be launched in honour of Kolkata’s favourite weekend, and decorative lights in the spirit of the festival will bring the atmosphere of Tangra’s celebrations taking place on the other side of the globe.

As well as their special menu, which includes Kolkata Chilli Chicken and Szechuan Tofu, Fatt Pundit will also be serving their signature dishes over the festival period.

Small plates inspired by the street food carts of Tangra such as Kid Goat Momos with Garam Masala, Cardamom and Ginger, Spicy Lollipop Chicken, Crackling Spinach with a Yogurt Topping and Pomegranate and Rabbit Wontons, all balance the flavours and textures of Hakka cuisine.
