From the 21st – 27th March, Chai Ki’s Toddy Shop will add its own twist to Holi with a Himalayan BBQ menu. The Indian drinking den will draw inspiration from the Festival of Colour, as celebrated in Nepal.
Founder, Rohit Chugh, and his team have developed a special menu for Holi, serving Himalayan inspired BBQ fare including Gurkha Chicken Wings with Nepalese Szechwan’timur’ pepper; Grilled Fish Poleko with mustard, turmeric and carom seeds; and Himalayan baby back ribs laced with fermented chilli rub and pineapple, served with bacon bhel.
In Nepal, Holi means enjoying a few drinks with intoxicating local ingredients. Chai Ki will be serving up a selection of their own special brews, which work best with the fire and spice of the BBQ specials including Chai Ki Toddy with coconut arrack and pineapple; Lychee Teapot Martini with cinnamon chai infused vodka; house spice infused Pilsner; and Holika, a cocktail special with mango, gin, orange and a Curacao shot for a splash of Holi colour.
‘I’ve been lucky enough to celebrate Holi in Kathmandu. That experience is the inspiration for our Himalayan Holi at Chai Ki, where we like to experiment and to do things differently. In Nepal, Holi is a party with food, drinks and explosions of colour and we hope to bring that spirit to our Holi celebrations.’ says founder Rohit Chugh.
Chai Ki’s Toddy Shop will be celebrating Holi from 21st – 27th March.
