Having opened the city’s first fresh yoghurt bar last year, Turkish inspired eatery, Mandira, has announced the opening of their 2nd venue, Simit by Mandira.

Following on from the flagship Covent Garden store, Mandira are devoting their new location to the Mediterranean street food known as the Simit.

A lighter, crunchier version of the bagel, Simit by Mandira will specialise in these homemade sesame seed delights, offering a selection of  fillings.

A popular bread in Turkey, the simit can be found all over the country, sold by street vendors on nearly every corner in every city. A Turkish staple that is unpretentious and flavourful, this traditional street food is the meal of choice for those on-the-go.

Simit by Mandira offers a modest menu of 8 simit creations, each one big on taste. From the Halloumi + Tomato Paste and the ToastedTurkish Pastrami (both served warm), to Smoked Salmon and Ricotta + Fig,. Ideal for a swift and indulgent lunch, go with tradition and pair with a Turkish Tea (served daily) for a winning combination.

Serving authentic Turkish Tea, the new location will also sell yoghurt based’sweet pots’, healthy bio-live smoothies (including two vegan options) and water. In addition, seasonal specials will be introduced throughout the year.

Simit by Mandira launches in Spitalfields Market on Monday 23rd April.
