Inspired by the’Streets of Mozzarella’ festival in Italy, Mayfair restaurant Sartoria will devote the entire month of May to celebrating one of Italy’s most popular exports. Highlights will include treccia, a giant two kilogram plaited mozzarella to share, as well as a special mozzarella masterclass on May 4th

In keeping with Sartoria’s traditional style of menu, which changes monthly to focus on a different part of Italy, May’s menu will offer Treccia – a two kilogram plaited mozzarella –  available whole for a party of eight people, priced at £80, served alongside grilled Mediterranean vegetables, or alternatively diners could opt for 125g of sliced treccia for £11 per person.

Held in the private dining room, the mozzarella masterclass on May 4th will give guests a greater insight into the history and production of mozzarella, as well as providing tips on how to make it and cook with it themselves.

There will be presentations from Head Chef Lukas Pfaff and cheese experts from Bianca La Bufala, Sartoria’s mozzarella supplier, as well as videos on the production methods of the cheese. Guests will also be given recipe cards to take away. A variety of cheese samples will be available for tasting including smoked buffalo mozzarella and fiordilatte. The masterclass can hold up to 36 guests, and the cost is £15 per person.

The’Streets of Mozzarella’ festival started in May 2005 in the hometown of Buffalo mozzarella, Paestum, a small town on the South-East coast of Italy. The festival features mozzarella demonstrations and presentations from some of Italy’s most popular chefs, including Michelin starred Francesco Sposito and Raffaele Vitale of the renowned restaurant, Casa del Nonno 13. The festival offers guests the opportunity to taste a range of mozzarella cheese and to learn about the variety of uses for the versatile and delicious product.  Sartoria’s’Mozzarella Month’ will offer guests the opportunity to transport themselves to the sunny coast of Italy, every day in May.
