Following on from the success of his tapas bar Jose, José Pizarro, is slowly building an empire with the opening of “Pizarro” at the end of October.

“Pizarro”, is located on Bermondsey Street in what was once the site of The Bermondsey Kitchen, and will have 40 covers, including booths and a private dining room seating up to 12 people.

Whilst José offers small tapas plates, “Pizarro” will focus on larger dishes still suited to sharing. Dishes on the menu will include Lobster Caldereta, Partridge Escabeche, Wild Sea Bass with Chorizo whilst some of the dishes such as Scrambled Egg with Morcilla with Pine Nuts and Mint may be familiar having been trailed at Jose.

Alongside the restaurant there will be a bar for those who just want to drop in for a small plate and something to drink. The mention of a communal table suggests that a relaxed atmosphere will be the order of the day.

Pizarro said ‘I want to show people that there is more to Spanish food than just tapas. When I get together with my friends and family in Spain a quick lunch often turns into something which lasts for hours. This is what I want to encourage people to come and experience at Pizarro”.
