Those heading to Twickenham for the Autumn season of rugby internationals, might be tempted to make a minor diversion en route to visit The Bingham, the stylish restaurant, bar and hotel on the banks of the Thames in Richmond. Beautifully situated, overlooking the river Thames in Richmond and only a short walk (or cab ride) from Twickenham stadium, The Bingham are introducing a special pre-game lunch menu at their 3 AA rosette restaurant.

The rugby lunch menu kicks off on Saturday 7th November, for England’s opening fixture against Australia, and will also be available on Saturday 14th November (England vs Argentina) and 21st November -(England vs New Zealand). Priced at £48 per person, the lunch will be served from 12 noon on all three of those Saturdays.

The lunch includes starters of truffled cauliflower soup; or roast quail with endive tart & foie gras parfait; followed by main courses of pumpkin risotto with ceps; Scottish beef Wellington; or sea bream fillet. Desserts include a choice of British cheeses; lemon cheesecake; or Valrhona chocolate tart and a selection of teas, coffees and petit fours, followed by a pre-match whisky livener at the bar. You do not, of course, have to be headed for the match to take advantage of this special lunch menu, so, rugby fan or not, you might want to give it a go, after all, who is to know if you have a ticket for the match?

The Bingham has recently been shortlisted for the ‘Best Gastronomic experience’ and ‘Best small hotel/B&B of the year’ categories in the Visit London 2009 awards.
