With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, here’s a selection of tequila-based serves perfect for the day.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. While it is not a major national holiday in Mexico, it’s been celebrated in the United States since the early 1860s – especially in Mexican-American communities in states such as California.
Today, Cinco de Mayo is widely recognised in the US as a celebration of Mexican heritage and culture, including food and drink traditions.
While margaritas have become strongly associated with the occasion, here’s a selection of tequila-based serves to enjoy on May 5th.
The Pantalones Organic Margarita
60 ml Pantalones Tequila Blanco
30 ml Organice Lime Juice
15 ml Agave Nectar
Organic Lime Wheel
Method: Rim the edge of the rocks glass with a lime wedge, dip the rim in salt. Add all ingredients to a shaker and shake until well chilled. Strain over a rocks glass filled with ice and top with ice.
Pantalones Picnic Pants
50 ml Pantalones Tequila Blanco
85 ml Sparkling Water
45 ml Elderflower Cordial
15 ml Lime Juice
5 ml Agave Syrup
Lime to garnish
Method: Fill a tall glass with ice. In a shaker combine Pantalones Organice Blanco Tequila, Elderflower cordial, fresh lime juice and a touch of agave syrup. Give it a shake. Pour the ice-filled glass and top with sparkling water. Garnish with a slice of lime and a sprig of elderflower if you have some to hand.

Sierra Tequila Paloma
50 ml Sierra Tequila Blanco
100 ml Grapefruit Soda
10 ml Lime Juice
Salt
Ice
Grapefruit
Method: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a highball glass and dip in salt. Fill the glass with ice and add the tequila and fresh lime juice. Top with grapefruit soda and gently stir. Garnish with a grapefruit slice
Sierra Tequila Soda
50 ml Sierra Tequila Blanco or Reposado
25 ml Lime Juice
20 ml Agave syrup
House soda
Garnish with lime
Method:Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Add Sierra Tequila, lime juice and agave syrup, then stir. Top the glass with soda and garnish with a lime slice
