Daylesford Organic Farmshop

While driving around the Cotswolds we visited a number of attractive villages, and it was suggested to us that we should visit Daylesford organic farmshop. We did, and a very interesting place it is too. The complex of shops have been developed by Lady Bamford, selling a range of organic foods, homewares, clothing and more. Walking through the grocery shop we were offered tasters of cheeses, breads, some charcuterie and we were impressed by the quality of the produce: the butcher and fishmongery also had a good array of quality produce, and here we were able to taste some freshly barbequed pork sausage, which was delicious with a great texture and juiciness to it.

All this whetted our appetite, and even though we were not particularly hungry, as we sat at an outside table of the café, intending to order some coffee and home-made cake, we saw amazingly well loaded ploughman’s lunch boards, and having sampled some of the produce already, we decided to share one. We were very glad that we did, the board arrived laden with a tasty chunk of pork pie, full flavoured ham , a tangy cheddar style cheese, salad, pickles and chutneys. We were right to share, there was certainly enough for two and it was reasonably priced at around £12.

The quality of service in the shops and at the café were excellent. If you’d like to know more about Daylesford produce their site is at www.daylesfordorganic.com and apart from at the farmshop, their produce can be found in a number of London locations they also have mail order arrangements. The site is well worth a look.
