hot chocolate hazelnut liqueur

Winter cold evenings call for staying in, experimenting in the kitchen and trying new products from the comfort of your sofa, ideally by a fireplace too. That’s so me.

Devon’s Cove, the UK based vodka brand, just launched a new hazelnut liqueur. At 25% it is strong, but not hurt your mouth strong, so it can easily be enjoyed over ice if you are avoiding cocktail making sessions.

Or for more creative moments, below are some tempting yet easy enough cocktail recipes. The Hazelnut Espresso Martini is my favourite. Cove Hazelnut Liqueur adds a lovely roasted hazelnut hint to the classic cocktail. The cocktail only needs four ingredients.

The liqueur itself is delicious. I will be honest I have not tasted many hazelnut liqueurs on their own, but as far as this one goes it is perfect.

It is fragrant, it is buttery with a chocolate and caramelised hazelnut tone to it. And there is just the right amount of sweetness to it. It is balanced, multi layered with a very natural flavour.

I definitely welcome the new product, the nut spirits and liqueur section is way too dominated by almonds. It would be good to see Cove’s Hazelnut Liqueur in cocktails in bars and restaurants in the future too.

The new Hazelnut Liqueur is made by combining caramelised hazelnuts with Cove’s luxuriously smooth Devon potato vodka. Cove suggest serving simply over ice, layered with single cream and sipped, or mixed with a latte or hot chocolate for a winter warmer. It makes it a perfect fire-side treat.
