Enoteca Pomaio is now officially open in London’s foodie hub: Shoreditch. This is also an opportunity for young Tuscan brother owners Marco and Iacapo Rossi, who also own the restaurants namesake award winning winery Podere di Pomaio in Tuscany, to showcase small grower wines for the first time outside of Italy.

The menu, designed by executive head chef Francesco Mastronardi, previously of The Four Seasons Florence and Milan, brings a flavour of fresh, modern Italian cooking to the Capital.

Signature dishes include: Bruchettas with Truffle and Quail Eggs; Wild Boar Risotto with Broccoli & Guanciale; Mackerel Nicoise with Capers & Fresh Vegatables and a new Fresh Pasta Dish created everyday to reflect seasonality and the best possible ingredients. Dessert also pushes the boundaries with gorgeous Tuscan Chocolate served with Salt Flakes and mouthwatering Cocoa & Marron Semifreddo.

The wine list was created by Luca Degl’Innocenti (Tuscany’s top sommelier in 2013 and Enoteca Pomaio’s restaurant manager) and is totally unique to London. It’s the first of any kind featuring Italian craft wines from really small growers that are biodynamic, organic, sustainable and natural.

For the more adventurous there are less talked about white wines and orange wines such as Anatraso IGT Trebbiano and Chiarofiore IGT Trebbiano & Vermentino. There is also, of course, a list of reds including fantastic Chianti Classico Riserva il Poggio 2006 and Podere di Pomaio’s Porsenna IGT Sangiovese 2011.

The interior of the restaurant sees a merging of classic and modern Tuscan design. The interior design has been overseen by architect Marisa Lo Cigno, who designed Podere di Pomaio’s Eco-WineCellar (one of the 14 most beautifully designed Wine-Cellars • Toscana Wine Architecture).

Decorated throughout with pieces sourced from Tuscan vintage markets and modern designers, the 50-cover restaurant is divided into two main areas. A beautiful dining counter, a bespoke creation made from wood and iron while the dining room beyond features rustic wooden tables and chairs, distressed walls and stunning artwork. Additionally, the bar can operate with a private dining room, which is perfect for private wine tastings and events.
