Madrid-style tapas bar, Tapas Revolution, will be celebrating the popular Spanish festival, La Tomatina in its Westfield London and Bluewater branches by creating an entire tomato menu until 2nd September.

La Tomatina Festival is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, where participants, for fun, throw (squashed) tomatoes at each other. To bring this Spanish frivolity to the UK, owner of Tapas Revolution Omar Allibhoy has devised a unique menu that will certainly give diners something to celebrate.

“La Tomatina Festival not only creates a buzz in Valencia but throughout the whole of Spain and now I’m hoping the same excitement will come to the UK. Instead of throwing tomatoes, I decided to create a menu to celebrate this fine fruit! They’re versatile, healthy and extremely tasty and some of the most amazing dishes can be created with them.” Says Omar Allibhoy.

The Tomatina Festival Menu will include a Gazpacho de Sandia (traditional chilled vegetable soup with a hint of watermelon). As well as classics, such as Pan con Tomate (toasted bread with garlic, tomato and olive oil) and Patatas Arrugadas (roasted potatoes with spicy “mojo picon” dip). In addition, a Pollo al chilindrón (chicken in an onion, red pepper and tomato sauce) and Calamares en salsa Americana (squid in a spicy tomato and white wine sauce). If diners have room after their tapas feast, a Tomato Jam Cheesecake is also on offer.

In keeping with Tapas Revolution’s ethos, the festival menu is reasonably priced with dishes starting from £2.95 – £5.50. Diners also have the option to choose the full menu for just £10 based on two people sharing. The Tomatina menu will run alongside both the a la carte and set menu.
