Unsurprisingly, the launch of the Tanqueray Live Lounge at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, was pretty indulgent. We had turned up there just as the place opened its doors to the public for the very first time so had the benefit of seeing it in all its glory, without others milling around.
The Live Lounge is situated in the Tudor Gardens on the sixth floor of the building, on the corner of Kensington High Street and Derry Street, where the entrance is, opposite the old Barkers building. It’s a semi-permanent structure, effectively an air conditioned substantial marquee, which has The Green Bar as you enter. Beyond, there is the entertainments area, leading to the exclusive Red Bar, a VIP area decorated largely in red, with comfortable black deeply upholstered seating. We were unable to stay long, we had another engagement to get to, the reason we turned up early, but we spent an hour or so in the Red Bar enjoying the atmosphere and tasting some interesting creations made by our bartender for the evening – none of them disappointed.
The lounge is currently set to play host to live music from an array of live acts every Friday and Saturday from 7.30 until April 2011, although we were told that the structure is likely to stand for somewhat longer. Visitors will be able to enjoy live music while sipping cocktails made with Tanqueray gin by some on London’s leading mixologists. The Live Lounge promises to be a unique experience for visitors, both the gardens and the lounge are stunning and will undoubtedly make for a special night out.
Entrance to the Live Lounge is priced at £15 for advance bookings or £20 on the door and the normal club night will start at 10 pm. If this is something you think you might like to experience, you can find out more at www.roofgardens.virgin.com or call the team there on 020 7368 3960
