The award-winning Whites Bar & Kitchen at the White Horse in Steyning has recently announced the appointment of their new Head Chef, Stuart Dove.

Having started his career working under Gordon Ramsay he is now bringing his notable culinary skills to bear at this Sussex eatery. His new menus will draw on the experience gleaned from working at Michelin star restaurants around the globe. His culinary flair, combined with a passion for using fresh locally sourced ingredients, promises to deliver some great dishes.

Working in a theatre-style kitchen and displayed on plasma screen televisions located throughout the building, customers will be able to watch Stuart working to create their meals. Stuart’s menu caters to a wide variety of tastes, from those who like to be experimental when it comes to trying new flavour combinations through to lovers of more traditional comfort food. All sourced from local suppliers, indeed, even some wines are locally sourced from vineyards just 10 miles away.

Some of the offerings you will find on the menu include Local Venison Sausage, Parsnip Purée, Sloe & Liquorice Jus with Curry Salted Crisps; Ratte Crusted Cod Fillet, Butternut Squash Purée, Soft Herb Angolotti & Brown Shrimp Vinaigrette and Confit BBQ Pork Belly, Humita, Chilli-Spiced Buttery Popcorn & Coriander Peppers. Desserts include: Jelly & Ice Cream Rosehip Jelly, Vanilla Ice Cream and Crunchy Almond Cookies and a Local Apple Tasting Plate of Tarte Tatin, Crumble, Parfait, Ice Cream and Blackberry Compote.

With a menu and wine list full of locally sourced produce if you are conscious about food miles and carbon footprints, maybe you should try Whites.
